Sarah Rhys - Coal Tree Slotmachine
Cryptic Landscape 1/3

Sarah Rhys is an interdisciplinary artist living and working between Bristol and West Wales. She works across installation, moving image, object making and artist books. She is currently interested in the reinterpretation of landscape, geological materials, narratives of plants and the alchemy of process.

Over the past year Sarah has been developing an ongoing research project called Holobiont with Austrian artist Caroline Vitzthum.

Cryptic Landscape is recent work which was shown at The National Botanic Garden of Wales 2021-2. The small assemblages are a response to the ecologies and miniature landscapes of lichen and moss.

Sarah received an MFA from Bath Spa University in 2004 and a Post graduate diploma in Multi-disciplinary printmaking from The University of the West of England, Bristol in 2013.
