Dr Victoria Walters is a Researcher in Visual Culture who has been developing a Fine Art installation practice over the last five years. She has long been interested in the work of 20th Century German artist Joseph Beuys and holds a doctorate from the University of Ulster on work the artist showed or undertook in Ireland and Scotland in the 1970s. Victoria has taught into Visual Culture programmes as an Associate/Visiting Lecturer at UWE Bristol and Critical & Contextual Studies at Bath Spa University. On completion of her PhD she worked as an Associate Fellow at PLaCE Research Centre in its previous incarnation at UWE Bristol and as a Senior Research Fellow at Winchester School of Art. In addition to – and to some extent in connection with – her interest in Beuys’ work and legacies, Victoria’s theory and practice-led research interests include the role of art at a time of emergency, art and home, the relationship between art and anthropology and art and ecology. She is currently supervising one PhD student in Art History at the University of Dundee.
